Our partners are the most important part in our business

The way we choose

When we choose new wineries, we don't compromise. We visit our partners regularly to keep up to date on production. This gives us tremendous insight and a close relationship. We want our business to reflect this.

Ribera Del Duero is a very complex region with a lot of history. This is a big part of Goba's existence and that is why we want to tell the stories of the vineyards in the region.

Find below which wineries Goba works with.

The bodega

Asenjo Manso

It is located in La Horra, a village with a long grape and wine-growing tradition in the heart of Ribera del Duero. The Asenjo Family has been always devoted with passion and dedication to viticulture. Their qualities have been preserved over time and passed down from grandfather to son for generations.

‘‘Our way of understanding life, love of the vines, and winemaking is a lifestyle.’’

Their land is excellent for wines because of a special microclimate, with sudden changes between day and night (continental climate), which makes powerful grapes and gives the grape a special character that will later transfer to wine.

The elaboration of wine is nothing but a natural process with a high control throughout the whole process. They select the grapes carefully and before the wine goes through the aging process, it must achieve the high standards of criteria for tannins, color, and aromas. The wines are cut in a traditional manner. On the nose, there are dark berries, figs, forest floor, toasty spices, and a well-integrated barrel. They're usually juicy and strong.

Abadía de acón

Abadía de Acón is the project of the Carrasco family. It is located in the heart of the D.O. Ribera del Duero, in Castrillo de la Vega, Burgos. Here, for centuries, their ancestors traditionally made their own wines.

In 1953, their great-grandfather, Norberto Carrasco, built some concrete vats in the underground cellar. In 2003, the Carrasco family built the current winery; nestled on a gentle hill that opens to the four winds, it is guarded by centenary oak trees and, from any of its sides, you can see wide vineyards, Castilian fields, native oak forests, holm oaks, rockroses, junipers, etc... and, not far away, the course of the Duero river can be seen.

Their winemaking philosophy is to take advantage of and control the natural process of grape production and transformation, combining innovation and tradition. All of this is based on the utmost respect for the vineyard, the use of natural fertilizers, and manual care of the vine, the land, and its environment. The altitude at which all their vineyards are located varies between 800 and 870 meters above sea level.

Currently present in more than 20 countries, has been endorsed by various awards on more than 50 occasions and standing out for their high scores in various specialized magazines.

Ferratus

Bodegas Ferratus is modernity and elegance, breathing pure air in the heart of the D.O. Ribera del Duero, to give the best wine, the fruit of the best land.

The owner - María Luisa Cuevas is the winegrower and businesswoman. She leads a unique project in a winery with 100% renewable self-sufficient energy.

Their vineyards are located in different carefully chosen locations in the Ribera del Duero area to provide FERRATUS with the best Tempranillo grapes.

Ferratus wines are created to be enjoyed. With a modern, elegant, and harmonious style, the bottle and the passage of time refine, balance and round off the wine until it is ready to be consumed.

“Tugging the heartstrings through sight, the sense of smell and the palate is our goal: making “drinkable poetry”, unforgettable...”

The bodega

San Gabriel

The winery is situated on the estate owned by the San Gabriel Brothers in the municipal district of La Aguilera since 1964.

The incredible and natural landscape gives their vineyards sublime conditions. Extreme and non-expected changes in the climate, plus the effort and expertise of their professionals make consistent harvests of exceptional grapes.

Maintaining tradition is the main philosophy of the winery, as well as the respect for the land and environment. By these actions, they are able to achieve stylish and refined wines with a huge personality.

The efforts of the vine-growers in terms of care and maintenance of the fields, plus the oenologist's watch and guidance throughout every step make the perfect conditions to produce a wine that is finished with the characteristic peace, silence, and quiet from a monk monastery.

San Gabriel wines are strongly related to the ‘Château de Briacé’ wine from France, where they own a vine-growing center, in the area of Briacé.

The sensitive care that they offer to the vineyards, from the beginning till the end, enables the production of the following wines:

Tinto Joven - Tinto Roble - Tinto Crianza - Tinto Reserva  - Kratos - San Gabriel Rosado

The bodega

Hemar

In the pure heart of la Ribera del Duero, you can find Fuentecén, a place where Bodegas Hemar is located, dedicated to the elaboration and commercialization of wines with the Ribera del Duero D.O..

The familiar character of the winery and their passion of controlling the maximum quality in every step of the process, from the vineyard to the bottle, gives a result of a personal wine, unique and with huge contrasts.

It was in 2003, when the Las Heras Martín family started to take their first steps into the elaboration of high quality wines: Hemar and Llanum.

From 2010, they introduced their gama of young wines, Tinto and Rosado.

The vineyards placed in the village Fuentecén grow in a clay-calcareous soil. The oldest terroirs are situated at a middle height of 750 m.

The average age of the vineyards is 20 years old, the oldest ones are over 80 years old. The annual production is never more than 4.000 kilograms per hectare.

The bodega

López Cristóbal

Everything started around the ’30s when Santiago Lopez's father landed in the Ribera del Duero to create a new project in the same place where the winery is located today.

The last push to enter the wine world came in the ’80s, just at the same time as the creation of the D.O. Ribera del Duero. After some years, in 1994, the awaited moment of making his own wine finally came, by creating Bodegas López Cristobal. After some years his son Galo was incorporated, supposing a decisive help in the consolidation of the winery, as well as a very personal approach to the character of the wines.

The passion for viticulture has been transmitted from generation to generation. The tradition goes hand in hand with innovation, they equip their facilities with the most technologically advanced, always trying to take care of the grape.

“Our viticulture values tradition. We manage the vineyard in a sustainable way, respecting the environment and upholding ecological values. Harvesting is manual and we carry it out with delicacy, in fruit boxes, avoiding any damage to the grapes.''

“We firmly believe that caring for our vineyard is a hallmark in the production of wines with soul”.

It’s one of the pioneers of the creation of the regulation counsel of the Denomination of Origin of Ribera del Duero. The average age of their vineyards goes over 50 years old, some of the parcels survived the phylloxera, and have a soil composition with great diversity, that goes from the most elegant and smooth sands, through the limestones with their character, to the clays that let they have their volume and tension. All of them are filled with biodiversity and always sustainable plantations.

This combination of factors generates the perfect coupage for the elaboration of a different but extraordinary Ribera del Duero. Experience and knowledge fill their deposits year by year.
